Otologic surgeries, particularly middle ear and mastoid procedures, demand a high level of anatomical understanding, microsurgical precision, and familiarity with temporal bone variations. Despite theoretical knowledge, many surgeons face challenges in translating imaging interpretation into surgical decision-making and executing safe drilling techniques.
This certificate course is designed to bridge this critical gap by integrating radiological interpretation (HRCT temporal bone), surgical principles, and extensive hands-on dissection practice. Participants will gain structured exposure to essential otologic procedures, including mastoidectomy techniques and ossiculoplasty, within a simulation-based learning environment.
By the end of the course, participants will be able to:
1. Interpret HRCT scans of the temporal bone for surgical planning
2. Understand the principles and techniques of ossiculoplasty
3. Identify key anatomical landmarks of the temporal bone
4. Perform step-wise mastoidectomy procedures
5. Demonstrate safe drilling techniques on temporal bone models
6. Execute approaches such as:
a) Canal wall down mastoidectomy
b) Inside-out technique
c) Facial recess approach
7. Recognize and manage intraoperative complications
8. Improve surgical outcomes through evidence-based discussions
1. ENT Surgeons (Consultants & Practicing Specialists)
2. DNB/MS (ENT) Residents
3. Fellowship Candidates in Otology
1. Hands-on procedural practice for every participant on 3D printed Temporal bone model
2. Distinguished faculty, recognized leaders in the field with extensive clinical experience, providing comprehensive instruction, over the shoulder mentorship throughout the training
3. Post Course Continued learning through the exclusive alumni connect program, gaining insights from the vast clinical experience of the faculty and peers
4. Accredited by the prestigious The Royal College of Surgeons of England and Maharashtra Medical council. Participants successfully completing the course are eligible to earn CPD points as may be applicable.
